Jaime is moving to Spain - he is saying Adios! to Jersey and Hola! Spain.

See what Jaime had to say in an interview with him today.

When did you move over to Jersey?

On the 2nd of October 2001, nearly 9 years ago!

Have you enjoyed staying here in Jersey?

Yes, I guess so! I have had ups and downs, and moments where I was missing my family a lot, but overall, I shall say that yes, I cant complain!

Otherwise I wouldn't have been for that long!

How did you first get involved with JACY?

I got involved with JACY when Mary did an appeal in all the Churches asking for help, it was shortly after they came back from World Youth Day 2005. (Sorry I cant be very precise! Memory gets blurry at a certain age! :-P) Before that, I had been a Confirmation Cathequist at St. Thomas for three years, and I wanted to keep doing something for the youth

What is your favorite memory in Jersey?

I guess this may sound silly, but one of the nicest moments I can think of is when back at my previous work at BBVA the girls from the office presented me with some books as a sign of appreciation. Let me develop the background a little bit.

At St. George Day there is a tradition in Barcelona, where I come from, whereby men give roses to women and women, in turn, give books to men. I bought a rose for each one of them and they surprised me by buying me some books as a sign of appreciation

I remember it in a nice way because I have had a very rough week working wise and I didn’t expect it

When do you move back over to Spain?

I don’t have a fix date yet, but everything indicates that by the end of August! That's all I am paying for in terms of rent!

And what part of Spain are you moving back to?

Not sure yet, but most probably Barcelona, although I don’t disregard Madrid or Bilbao, where I have also family

And finally (I think the answer to this question is quite obvious, will you miss everyone here in Jersey ;)

I better answer yes!

Of course I will. In fact, although I am very happy to be back in Spain, I have mixed feelings! I have made very good friends I will never forget.

Come up to the JACY Upper Room tomorrow evening at 7:00 to say Farewell and Adios to our Jaime and celebrate his time with us here in Jersey.
